The
Hinsdale Public Library Foundation sponsored visits by astronaut
Ron Grabe to Monroe School and Elm School on February 13.
Grabe spoke to students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades about
his experiences in space. Coupled with a slide show, Grabe
wowed the students with his descriptions of retrieving a
satellite and conducting experiments on microgravity.
Grabe
became an astronaut in 1981 and logged more than 627 hours
in space with four missions. His first mission, in 1985,was
the maiden voyage of the Atlantis,the second Space Shuttle
Department of Defense mission, launched from
